Sometimes doing a search gets you lost, I started looking for a thread on this and instead I found the roil oil treatment threads Basically the defect is that the pod makes the induction loud.
He said realistically it's mostly only applicable to rotory engines. But still I'll be getting my pod engineered, and if i wasn't i'd be getting a box so there is no chance of a defect because if a cop wants to they will. As long as it is not an Oiled filter and it is held tightly with a bracket so that it can not move they are fine.

Hi All, Have a different air intake kit with pod filter ready to go on my little Audi tomorrow and copped a few yellow stickers back in the day although in a different state Western Australia.
Heatsoak isn't a concern at least for now given I live 1. So afaik - I shouldn't get a yellow sticker if I'm pulled over? If it's boxed or not should be irrelevant and I don't require a permit? I know I will gain no performance benefit, just want a better sound and the factory air filter is unitised to the plastic engine cover that makes it difficult to keep an eye on oil leaks etc.

And that much like how there is interpretation from shop to shop on what constitutes a roadworthy condition of a certain piece of the car for doing a RWC, that some cops just kind of interpret the EPA rules they're there to enforce as they see fit.
If you have a turbo car, and if you have a pod filter, then you can't have any other intake mods like front mount intercooler, but stock SMIC is fine. Speaking to the EPA he agree'd that the cops are enforcing the EPA regulations which is why my canary said the intake system has to conform to EPA regs , but, ring up any TMU and see what response you get to the question about pod filters and stock intercoolers.
I've rang up and spoken to 2 different people and they both say pod and any intercooler is illegal. Posted 07 February - AM. This is so wrong. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
